Beat the Ginger Day
By Yubbles

It was just another day of accomplishing very little to nothing. No packages were to be delivered and Hermes was out sick, so the Planet Express employees wouldn't get a huge lecture on productivity. So there they were, Fry, Leela, Bender, Amy, and Zoidberg were watching the news.

"Greetings foolish Earthlings" said Morbo the anchor-monster in the usual, maniacal way "We will defeat you!" this was followed by the usual evil laugh.

"Sure!" said Bender "You keep saying that and look where you've gotten, he's such a bragged!"

"Yeah" agreed Fry "I'm getting tired of his rants on destroying the human race"

"Spleesh!" exclaimed Amy "You should be happy that IF it does happen, it's not happening now!"

"I guess you have a point" agreed Leela

So they continue to watch until Bender changed the channel to a comedy channel, and there was South Park episode.

"I remember this show!!!" said Fry excitedly "It was pretty funny until season 3"

"Yeah" said Zoidberg "The 235th season was no better"

"So, I'm guessing this shows popular here, right?" asked Fry

"Of course!" said Leela "Almost everyone I know watches it... I heard that they're running the ancient versions, since they found them hurried under a McDonalds a few days ago"

So they continued to watch, until Fry suddenly cried:

"Oh god NO! Not THIS episode!"

"Whats wrong Fry?" asked Leela "I though you liked..."

"Not THIS one!!" interrupted Fry "Oh, look at the time, I've gotta go home... uh ... yes, home. I ... uh ... left my ... toaster, yes, toaster on, it might burn the house down!"

As he finished his stuttered sentence, he bolted out of the room.

"Whats wrong with that skintube?" asked Bender "He doesn't even know we live in an apartment, not a house"

As they continued watching, they found out why Fry was desperate to leave, this episode was an episode against gingers ("ginger" = person with red hair [for those who didn't know]) and Fry was obviously a Ginger

As the episode finished, Bender yelled : "Dibs on the crow bar!"

"Bender!" yelled Amy and Leela in unison

"What?"

"We are not going to beat the crap out of Fry!" said Leela in an angry tone

"Aw man!" whined Bender "You flesh bags always take the fun out of beating thing 'til they burst!"

"Okay" said Fry to himself, trying to forget the horrible beatings he got on those days "I'm almost..."

Just then, a mob appeared from behind a corner

"GINGER!!!!!" yelled the leader as he lead the mob into battle with a fierce battle cry. Fry ran for his life, but was running out of energy, just when he thought all hope was lost, a shadowed figure pulled him into an alleyway. As Fry fell on the floor after poising his balance, he noticed Leela was the one who pulled him in the alley.

"No. No no no, please, please don't hurt me, I'll give you anything, just don't kick or punch me!"

"Shut up Fry, they'll hear you and hunt you down!" whispered Leela with a stern tone in her voice.

"So... so you're NOT gonna beat the crap outta me?" asked Fry bewildered.

"Nope"

"Phew! But wait, why would you of all people save me?"

"I dunno... I guess I owe you one" as she said this, she couldn't help but smile.

"So... how are we gonna get outta here without people noticing us?"

"Follow me"

After several minutes of walking through various alleyways, they finally made it to a hair salon.

"What, I'm getting my hair dyed? I prefer to stay a red-head, even if it does mean getting crushed by many people for no reason. My hairs part of my personality and I like it this way!"

"Me too" mumbled Leela

"Did I hear you right?" said Fry with his childish grin on his face.

"I dunno, you want me to beat you sence-less like everybody else wants to?"

"Well... uh... I guess not" he said disapointedly

"Good" replied Leela"Lets keep it that way, oh, and you're not getting your hair dyed, we're ... I mean I'm gonna get you a wig, I'll be back in a second!"

After a few minutes, Leela was back with a black hair wig, as Fry put it on, he felt it tighten, and screamed in shock.

"Oh relax" explained Leela "Wigs tighten around a persons head until they rip it off"

"Does it hurt?" asked Fry

"I dunno" admitted Leela "Lets find out, shall we?"

As she ripped the wig off of Fry's head, he yelled in pain as the wig was torn off.

"Oh, sorry" said Leela, a little embarrassed

"Its fine, better that having bender do it" commented Fry as he massaged his head "Alright, let's get outta here"

"Where to?" asked Leela, handing Fry his wig back

"How about the park, since it is a nice day outside after all.."

"Sounds good"

There they were, sitting on a bench, talking.

"So" started Leela "What was it like at school on 'beat the Ginger kid day'?"

A look of pain and sorrow shot across his face, a tear forming in one of his eyes as he remembered those horrible days.

"Oh" said Leela guilty "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have axes"

"No, it's okay" there was a pause and Fry began again "At school, I would walk in, and next thing I knew, I was on the ground getting the s**t beaten out of me, one of them started poking me with a pencil, leaving several scars and lots of blood on my shirt..." as he finished, Fry broke down crying.

"There, there Fry" said Leela, trying to sooth him "You're fine now, no one's gonna beat you up today, not on my watch!"

"Thanks Leela" said Fry, calming down, and he looked in Leelas eye "I appreciate it" as he finished, he had one of his childish grins on his face.

Fry and Leela were sitting there, watching the sunset, and soon after, they were gazing at the stars in the dark void of space.

"Well, it's getting late Leela, I guess I'm gonna go home" he stood up and started walking until Leela pushed him back down on the bench.

"Are you an idiot?!?!?" exclaimed Leela

"Hey!" said Fry, quite offended

"Wait, you didn't let me finish" continued Leela "If you go home, Bender's gonna beat you 'til you're half dead!"

"Well, where else am I gonna go?" asked Fry

"Well" said Leela, stammering slightly "You could always, you know... you could stay at my place for the night"

"Uh... sure, Id love to, I mean... I... uh..."

Leela laughed a little as Fry was looking for the right words

"C'mon, let's go" said Leela

"1I..." said Fry, remembering the last time he was here, bringing back painful memories of the worms.

"Bathrooms over there if you need to change... Oh... right, no change of clothes..."

"Oh well, doesn't matter, I'll just take the couch"

"Alrighty then, good night"

Fry woke up with an overflowing bladder in the middle of the night and rushed to the bathroom. As he emptied his bladder, he washed his hands and left for the couch, but on he way, he noticed the light in Leela's room was still on. Thinking there was something wrong, Fry knocked on the door to check up on her.

"Leela?" asked Fry, slightly conceded "everything alright?"

No answer.

"Leela?"

Still nothing, so Fry got inside and found Leela sound asleep with a book on her stomach. Fry slowly move towards her and covered her with a blanket.

"It's been a while since I was last here..." he told himself "So close... but I had to know, me or them..."

Fry turned the lights off and shut the door behind him, settling down on he couch. He couldn't go back to sleep, his mind kept wandering from topic to topic, and soon enough, he fell asleep once more.

Fry woke up to the feel of a boot nudging his shoulder. Fry got up and found himself upside-down on the couch with his head in an awkward position of the ground while the rest of his body was on the couch.

"Rough night huh?" asked Leela, who seemed to be a little tired herself.

"Other then the agonizing pain in my neck, I'm fine" said Fry, gently massaging his tender neck.

"So, want anything for breakfast?"

"Sure, got any bachelor chow?"

"Fry, why would I have that?"

"Iunno"

"Here, you can have some eggs and bacon, I'll split some with you"

"Sounds great!"

After a small breakfast, Fry and Leela went to work, taking a detour through the park, since they had some time, and had nothing better to do, and to Fry's surprise, Leela was the one who insisted.

"Its so beautiful today" said Leela, gazing into the clear blue Autumn sky.

"Yeah" said Fry, but he wasn't really paying attention to the sky, he had his eyes on Leela. For some reason, she had been really nice to him the past few days, which was totally unlike Leela... well, she was a nice person when she wanted to be... and when Fry didn't screw up badly.

"Fry?"

"Wha? Oh, right" Fry shook his head and looked at the ground

"You okay Fry?" asked Leela

"Yeah...  just thinking..."

"That doesn't seem like you" said Leela in a joking manner, which Fry didn't catch

"Hey!" said Fry offended "just because I screw up at work and am a bit lazy doesn't meant I'm incapable of thinking, I have a brain, and I am human!"

"Fry, I was kidding, but I am kind of surprised that you know the word 'incapable'"

"Of course I do" said Fry "Whenever I usually try to speak, I get nervous and fumble for words, and when the worms left, I tried to learn some more so I could feel as happy as I was back then..."

"Oh... look, Fry, if you need someone to talk to, I'm here, I'll listen"

"Now THAT doesn't sound lime you, why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?"

"I don't know, maybe I feel like being nice, I mean, I pretty much treat you like crap at work, and I wanna make it up to you" as she finished, Fry couldn't help but smile.

"Thanks Leela"

As they entered together, Bender was at the doorhding a shovel.

"'bout time meatbag!!!" said Bender "get over here so I can get a piece of ya!"

"Bender" said Fry, trying to calm Bender down "beat the ginger day was yesterday"

"Nope, me and a couple fellas decided to extend it to one week, isn't that great?"

"Oh crap..." said Fry, looking for an exit, but there was none, he and Leela were trapped between Bender and an angry mob of people.

"Cant we just convince them to not beat you up?" asked Leela, as Fry desperately looked for an exit.

"I tried that several times back in my day, but it didn't work!"

The mob was closing in, and one of the members grabbed Leela.

"Come on Ginger" said the man in a bitter tone "surrender, and you friend over here doesn't get hurt"

As he finished saying this, he pulled a blade from his jacket and placed it at Leelas throat.

"Whoa, aren't you taking this overboard?" asked Fry

The man pushed the blade a bit and some drops of blood came from Leelas throat.

"OKAY! Enough, let her go, take me, but leave her" said Fry in a tone so cold even Bender shivered a little on the inside.

The man threw Leela to the ground

"Fry, they'll kill you!" yelled Leela as they walked up to him

"As long as you're safe, nothing matters" said Fry, accepting fate

There was nothing she could do at that moment, the mob rushed Fry, but to her surprise, Fry had disappeared.

"Where the hell did that Ginger go?" yelled the ring-leader of the gang.

With no luck finding him they left, and Leela was lying there, hand on her neck, watching, bewildered at the fact that Fry had disappeared, but where had he gone?"

"Psst!" whispered a person in the bush "are they gone?"

"Fry?" asked Leela, incredibly confused "Is that you"

"No, it hooker-bot 5.0 " said Fry sarcasticly "Of course it's me!"

"What... where... how..."

"I'll explain later, in a week or so, when this all ends"

"Wait, Fry, let me come, you might need help"

"I don't really see what harm there is, alright, come on, let's roll"

Fry and Leela had snuck around he city avoiding mobs, and eventually, they took shelter in a cap-sized boat by the beach.

"Do you remember the $300 tax rebate we got a year ago?" asked Fry, explaining his escape.

"Yeah" said Leela "I remember that"

"Well, I wanted a hundred cups of coffee, so I did... wait, did you see an orange blur at Zapp's party?" asked Fry

"Yeah, I recall a... wait... that was...?"

"Yup, I was so energized by the caffeine that I manage to either slow down time, or get really fast... anyway, I can sometimes get that power back, like today"

"Why didn't you tell anyone?"

"I dunno, I don't want all that attention..."

"There's still so much about you that I don't know"

"There a helluva lot of stuff you don't know about me"

"Yeah, but there's still a helluva lot of stuff you don't know about me either"

"True, maybe we could change that, maybe a cup of coffee some time?"

"You never give up, do you?"

"Oh... I'll take that as a 'no', *sigh* it fine" his voice sank

"What if I said yes?" she asked

"Wait, what?"

Leela couldn't help but laugh at this "coffee sounds great"

Fry couldn't help but smile from ear to ear "Thanks Leela, you just made my day"

They sat there, side by side, his arm around her hip, her arm around his, watching the sunset.

"Alright" began Fry "Where do we go now?"

"Well" said Leela "I guess that they'll suspect that we're gonna go to my place, since I am trying to help you get out alive..."

"So I'm guessing we go camping in the woods!"

"That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea, it sounds like fun"

"Alright, let get started!"

So Fry took his wig and put it on, then headed to get some supplies for camping. After he finished, he met up with Leela by the woods.

"Okay" Asked Leela "Is everything ready?"

"Yeah, I guess, lemme check one more time" said Fry, rummaging through his backpack. "Yup, everything to last us five or so days"

"Perfect"

And so they went into the woods to escape the angry mobs of New New York.

"Great, now we've lost our rations to those stupid raccoons!" said Fry, cursing the animals that stole their food.

"Wow" commented Leela "I though it would last at least three days, but gone in the first twelve hours?"

"Oh well, we'll find a way to manage"

So off they went to a nearby river to attempt to fish, and in several attempts, Fry fell into the river, smacking his family jewels on a rock. Leela laughed so hard she almost fainted.

"Argh, the pain!" yelled Fry in agony "Stop laughing, it's not funny, it hurts like hell!"

"I guess I should help you" said Leela, trying not to laugh "okay, grab my hand"

And so he did, Leela managed to pull him out, but lost her balance, sending her and Fry tumbling into a bush, landing in an awkward position ;) Their faces turned redder than Zoidberg during mating season. Fry decided to seize the opportunity and sneak a kiss. Leela was surprised by this and went into self-defense mode, kneeing him between the legs.

"Oh crap!" she said, embraced "I'm really sorry Fry, my reflexes just kicked in"

All Fry could do was wheeze and hold on to his crotch, Hoping nothing would fall off. After an hour of recovery time, they decided to relax and watch the sun set.

"It's nice outside..." said Leela "I wish it could never end"

"I wish the pain in my crotch would" said Fry, wincing at every time the thriving returned. "If only we had ice"

"Man, I'm hungry, do we have any food at all?"

"Lemme see" Fry rummaged through his pockets and found a candy bar and handed it to Leela "This is all I found"

"Thanks" she said, unwrapping the bar "want some?"

"No, I'm not hungry"

Leela knew he was lying, but he could handle it, she knew it.

So the next five days were better than expected, except the fact that Fry's 'lower horn' was a magnet for painful objects, and Leela was whacked in the head by a branch. And the day after, they finally managed to get through. It was night on the last day, there was a huge thunderstorm.

"Uh, Fry?" asked Leela "Can I axe you something?"

"Sure" replied Fry "anything"

"Can I sleep in your tent tonight, the lightning is..."

Just then, a bolt of lightning followed by thunder took her by surprise. She jumped into Fry's arms.

"So... you're scared of lightning?" asked Fry "Huh, I thought you weren't afraid of anything"

"Well... Lightning is kinda... Well, scary"

"Come on and bring your stuff in my tent"

Fry's heart was racing, not because of the fear of lightning, but the fact Leela WANTED to sleep in his tent... With him... well, not in the same sleeping bag, but in the same room/tent. Fry could not afford to mess this up.

"So there you have it, my tent!" said Fry, trying to sound impressive infromt of Leela.

"Thanks for letting me in Fry" she said "It's quite nice of you"

"Anytime Leela, anytime. So, anything in general that calms you down?"

"I dunno, I guess talking does, helps me get my mind off the storm"

"So, what should we talk about?"

"Hmm... what do you think of the 30th century?"

"It's AWESOME, there isn't a day where something cool happens, even if it's something small, like those commercial dream-a-majigs. But I guess I kinda miss the 20th century a bit." as Fry finished, Leela noticed a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Oh... well, would you go back if you had chance?"

"Nope. I mean, I miss everybody there, but... well, its not as amazing as now, I mean, I get to go to space for less than minimum wage, while it took millions of dollars to send one lame guy in space for a few hours. Plus, I have a robot as a friend, and... well..." Fry's voice lowered to almost a whisper "You're here" he smiled sadly to himself.

"Oh, that's sweet Fry"

"So, wait... the coffee thing is on tomorrow, right?"

"Coffee? Tomorrow?" asked Leela confused, and must have forgotten her coffee with Fry.

"Oh... Dang, the stupid branch, dammit... the one time I get a chance, it dies."

"What died? An animal?"

"No..." Fry though to himself "Just my happiness and my heart" After a minute of silence, they decided to sleep.

Leela woke up to find Fry's sleeping bag empty, thinking something must've happened, like him be abducted by aliens, and this time, she didn't want him to loose any parts of his body. As Leela looked around, she found tracks in the mud, thinking it was Fry's, she followed it. Eventually, she found Fry sitting by a stream, leaning over with his hands grazing it's silver surface.

"Well, your life is a joke Phillip... the only time people will take me seriously is when I don't want to be taken seriously, and when I do, nobody listens..."

Leela had never seen this side of Fry. She was surprised at how serious he was, but then again, she never really saw him serious... unless she never took him seriously.

"I bet even if I died this moment, nobody would notice, even Leela... Leela... I've done so much, and all for nothing, maybe a hug once in a while, but nothing special... I've almost died for her on several occasions, and what do I get, a thanks, nothing more. I even wrote a love letter in the stars..."

"A love letter in the stars?" thought Leela to herself.

"I've helped her find happiness, shown her that many of the guys she's been where total jerks..." a tear slid down his cheek, causing a ripple in the stream "years of work and labour for nothing, what a world... we even had a date, but nooo. that branch just HAD to whack her... nothing matters anymore."

He stood up and started walking, with a depressed look on his face. Leela had noticed that he was walking to the city... strange, why would he want to go there?"

Fry had walked for an hour or so, give or take a few minutes. Eventually, he stopped at the park, starting at the stars with a longing in his eyes, muttering "If only she saw...". He got up after a few minutes of star-gazing, and headed to New New York's only non-hover bridge. He stood there, letting the wind flow through his hair. He suddenly stood on the handrail, staring straight ahead, tears streaming down his face.

"Oh god" whispered Leela "He's gonna jump"

"Goodbye cruel world of mine..." said Fry, about to take a step.

"FRY!" yelled Leela "what the hell are you doing?"

"What does it look like" said Fry, keeping his eyes straight ahead"

"Why? Why are you doing this?" said Leela, a tear forming in her eye, she didn't want to loose him like she could've lost him many times before.

"Why not?" was all Fry said.

"Because everybody needs you here" replied Leela, sniffling her tears.

Fry let out a cold laugh "I wish"

"No really, we need you"

"Give me one REAL reason for me not to jump, and I MIGHT reconsider"

Leela began, but the words wouldn't come out

"Three"

Still, no words were able to escape her lips

"Two"

"Because..."

"One"

"I... I love you Fry!"

Fry stopped, turned around, a small smile was on his face, but he soon shook it off.

"You're only saying that so I will believe you and not jump"

"Fry, I really..."

"No... if I get off, then it's gonna be like every other time, one day, you find it in your heart to give me a chance, but then the next day, you treat me like every other day, as if nothing had happened, the day before had just vanished in thin air!"

"No, I..."

"Save your breath Leela, it's no use now, I just hope you know just how much I loved you and how much I cared..."

And with this, Fry stepped off the bridge, plummeting to his death.

"FRY!!!!" yelled Leela

A thunderous splash was heard, then there was silence. Fry had killed himself. All because of how he was mistreated, especially by Leela. She fell on her knees and wept into her hands. She had finally found it deep inside of her that she wanted more than a friendship between her and Fry, but she was too late... far too late. Suddenly, everything started shaking violently, like an earthquake.

Leela woke up a found Fry shaking her by the shoulders.

"C'mon! Wake up! We have a delivery to make! HELLO?"

Leela grumbled and took her head off the conference room table in the Planet Express building, and opened her bloodshot eye.

"Bad dream?"

"Huh? Fry? Oh... It was all a dream, thank goodness"

"I'll just take that as a yes" said Fry, his trademark boyish grin on his face "C'mon, get up, we have a delivery to dogdoo 7"

"What are we delivering?"

"Litter boxes... or so I've been told"

"Okay... Well, let's get going"

So she stood up and walked to the ship, still slightly sleeping. She was incredibly happy to know that Fry was alive and everything was just a dream. But what if it would happen? It wouldn't, but one part of her mind would not let her forget about the consequences if it DID really happen. So as the ship took off, she began thinking about her dream until she was disturbed by a screaming Fry being chased by a raging Bender holding a broken beer bottle.

"Get over here so I can rip your legs off"

"Take my wallet instead *argh* MY LEGS!"

"Okay Bender" said Leela, getting a bit angry "what did Fry do this time?"

"He took my beer!"

"Here" Leela threw a bottle of beer she took from the 'emergency pack' under the controls.

"Thanks, oh and Fry, you can keep your legs, I don't want them anymore"

"But you don't have my legs, they're still on, although they are quite bloody"

"That can be fixed" said Bender, rolling up his 'sleeves'.

"So you'll patch up my legs?"

"Guess again meatbag"

"Bender, calm down, Fry needs his legs!" interjected Leela

"Yeah, what she said!" added Fry

"You humans are such whimps" Bender walked into his quarters with his bottle of beer, mumbling things about legs and killing all humans.

"My god Fry, you're a bloody mess!"

"Not my fault, I blame Bender!"

"Okay, let's get you to the med bay so I can bandage those wounds up"

"Okay, you're the captain" Fry stood up, but soon wound up on the floor whimpering.

"Need help with that?" asked Leela

"Sure... if you don't mind"

"Not at all..."

"YEAO!!" yelled Fry in pain, who failed at hiding he immense pain of Leela yanking glass shards out of his legs.

"You okay Fry? You're awfully pale" said Leela, worried.

"Yeah... just... tired"

When Fry finished his sentence, he fainted from loss of blood.

"Great" said Leela, lying Fry down and attaching wires on his arms "There, you should be good as new in a few hours" As she finished, she headed out of the med-bay, and decided to take a nap, since they still had another day until they reached dogdoo 7.

Fry had regained consciousness after an hour or two, and noticed the tubes attached to his arm. He looked at his legs, and found them neatly wrapped in gauze. Fry unhooked himself from the machine and got up. He decided to go to the bridge to talk to either Bender or Leela, but neither of them were there. He took a good look around, making sure nobody was there. He then took a seat in the captains chair. How he had longed to fly a space ship, he had always wanted to pilot through the starry void of space, traveling from planet to planet. He checked the bridge to make sure that nobody had gotten in while he wasn't paying attention, and turned the auto-pilot off. How hard could it be, I was just like playing a video game.

"Level 1" he whispered to himself, a slick smile on his face.

Leela had woken up a few hours later and found something different. The ship was acting differently. Hoping the ship auto-pilot wasn't having a drinking contest with Bender, she headed to the bridge... but not before checking up on Fry. As she opened the door, she found him missing. He was probably back in his cabin. So Leela made her way down to the bridge, and found Fry controlling the ship. She was surprised that Fry was on course and hadn't crashed into anything. He was probably using the auto-pilot for help.

"Hey Fry? Having fun?" asked Leela.

"Yup" answered Fry "AAAH! Leela, I... uh... I... well, you see..."

"I see you're having fun with the auto-pilot"

"Yeah... about that, I turned it off, thought that maybe I could have a spin in the ship."

Leela's jaw dropped as she realized that Fry was not joking, and that he was, in fact, flying the ship un-aided.

"But... how... you...?" stuttered Leela, very confused.

"Well, first, I read some basic instructions, then I took her for a spin. After all, it is similar to a game system I used to own. Well, my fund over, let the yelling begin..."

"What yelling? Why would I yell at you for this?"

"Wait, what?" It was Fry's turn to be confused.

"Why would I yell at you? This is great, I can finally have some rest while someone who isn't an arrogant bastard can fly there safely enough"

"I gather that you're talking about the auto-pilot, right"

"Yeah, that jerks always trying to weasel his way outta flying!"

"So... we're cool?"

"Definitely, say, I'm starved, you want anything to eat?"

"Sure, let me put the auto-pilot on"

"Sure, just don't start any drinking contest with him!"

So they ate in silence on the couch in the bridge that sat behind the giant windshield. As they finished, Fry threw it away and sat down again, kicking his legs up to rest on the table they had used to eat. Leela followed.

"Huh, no wonder you do this" said Leela, realizing how comfortable it was.

"Yeah, great way of relaxing" said Fry, putting his arms behind his head.

"See, I never knew why people did that, I tried, but it's uncomfortable"

"I just do it 'cause it looks cool"

Leela laughed at this and decided to gaze out the window. Fry decided he needed to 'yawn', and stretched his arms out and put his arm around Leela's shoulder. This caught her by surprise and she tensed up, but soon relaxed and moved a little closer. Fry couldn't believe it, she accually wanted to be near him, and didn't almost break his arm after the 'yawn'.

"You feeling okay Leela?" asked Fry, thinking that maybe the food had been poisoned "usually, you'd cripple my arm by now and tell me how immature I am and stuff like that..."

"I'm fine Fry, nothings wrong. Besides, why would I want to cripple your arm for one little thing?"

"Well... I dunno, just seems like something you'd do"

"Why would you think that?"

"Well... I... have no idea, just seems like you"

"Just because I can cripple someone doesn't necesarily mean I want to, and besides, why would I want to cripple you, of all people?"

"Because you've done it several times before"

"Oh... yeah, sorry about that"

"No problem, I'm just glad there was no major damage, just a few bruises"

So they continued sitting there and gazing at the stars.

"It always amazes me, no matter how many times I see it, it just gets better and better"

"Yeah... I never saw them like this until you showed up, thanks for that Fry"

"No problem"

There was silence once more, other than the occasional noises coming from the computers. Leela looked at her wrist thingy, still an hour or so until they reached dogdoo 7. Fry wanted to advance, but then reminded himself not to push his luck, even this was great, perfect even. So they sat there, Leela huddled up by Fry, who had his arm around her. The auto-pilot signaled their arrival at dogdoo 7, so the pair unwillingly got up and got out to deliver the package.

"Ewww!" grimaced Fry "No wonder they need some litter boxes!"

"Psh!" said Bender "you humans and you're weak noses!"

"C'mon Bender, gimme a break, how would you like it to have a nose right now? Probably wouldn't!" retorted Fry.

"Yeah, I agree" said Bender "I've got my smision on, and BOY does it look bad!" as Bender finished, he laughed at Fry's predicament, and left him to deliver the package.

Fry had delivered the package and was running for his life as several dogs who seemed to be guards were chasing him. Fry dove into the ship as it began taking off. One of the dogs had managed to get in and was biting into Fry's calf. Bender was pretty angry to see that someone other than he was injuring Fry, so he took the dog and threw it out of the airlock. Leela then came running in to find a large pool of blood and a pained Fry, who was trying to hold in the pain.

"C'mon, let's get you to the med-bay... again" she then lifted Fry and helped him hobble over to the med-bay.

"How the hell did this happen Fry?" asked Leela "Did you drink their king?"

"No, I didn't do anything, they just started chasing me because I had beef jerky in my pocket!" said Fry.

"And you never thought to throw it back so they wouldn't almost kill you?"

"No, Its reply good beef jerky!"

So Leela wrapped his major wound again and went to the bridge. Fry was in too much pain to notice that Bender was standing outside. Bender decided to come in.

"Thanks for throwing the dog out buddy" said Fry, thanking Bender.

"I only did it so there would be some left over for me" he said then left. Fry knew that Bender cared, and was thankful for it. After an hour of recuperation, Fry had found the bridge empty and dark, of course, they were in hyper-naptosis mode. The oxygen must've been running lower than usual. This only meant more sleeping time for Fry. As he walked back, he noticed that the Captains quarters' lights were still on. Fry decided to see if everything was alright, and mocked on the door.

"Come in" said Leela behind the doors.

Fry entered and saw Leela sitting up in bed. "Everything okay?" asked Fry, a hint of worry in his voice.

"Yeah..." said Leela "just a bad dream..."

"Again?"

"Yeah, same one"

"Wanna talk about it?"

"Sure, I could really use someone right now"

"So" said Fry, seating himself in front of Leela "what's been bugging you"

"A dream... A bad one"

"Yeah, I understood that part. So what happens"

"Well, first off, there's this guy..."

"Do I know him" asked Fry, obviously jealous.

"You could say that, anyway, I've dreamt of him killing himself over my own stupidity"

"What stupidity?"

"Well... the thing is..." she looked up at Fry, who was concerned and jealous at the same time "I've realized through this dream that I love him, but I still fear that it's far too late, that I might loose him soon..."

"So you really love him..." said Fry, disappointed. "Well, you should go talk to him, before you loose him..."

"I already am" replied Leela

It took a few moments for this to sink in, but Fry soon got it, and his mouth dropped. So it turned out that he was he man she loved in her dream.

"You sure you're feeling alri..." but before Fry could finish his sentence, Leela pulled him towards herself and pressed her lips to his. They shared a passionate kiss for who knows how long. It felt like an eternity for Fry. He was the happiest he had ever been, there he was, with the woman he had longed for, he had finally caught up to her after chasing her for years, and he hoped that he could keep up, but the futur didn't matter now, all that did matter was now, and the embrace that was shared between him and his love, Leela. Things had finally worked out for him in the end after all. Those years of pain and struggle had payed off eventually, like many things in life.
