why'd i get band for calling rush stupid which by the way people on FMMB call each other all the time

Straw that broke the camel's back. There was no reason to imply that Rush was "stupid" due to his grammar and punctuation, and I just felt your post was there to belittle. You've been warned before quite a few times on this board for various things, plus you've been banned before (for longer) for acting up here, so another ban was warranted. There is a limit to patience, so pushing it might end up with longer bans. ;)
ok now i understand

I didn't really want to start a new thread for this, but how do I go about having a name change? I just checked the member list and saw that Mel hasn't been used. Seeing as that's what I'm called in every day life I thought it'd be more fitting. Thank you :D

Admins has anyone ever sent you an email that was futurama related but was out of order like pornography or something.

Also what's your limits to what's out of order? Like someone sends you a futurama fan fic about zombies which is extremely violent about people being ripped apart etc.

And yes i guess you don't encouraged racist stuff and politics.

We've had spammers who managed to PM every member on the board with porno once, but that wasn't Futurama related.

We're stricter about what one does on the board than what one sends to another as a PM (it's not as if us admins scour the PMs, so it's not something we really govern). The main rule is that if you're sending out stuff that's harassing another member or deliberately causing offence, then if the victim contacts us, we might act on it. If both are consenting, and as long as it's not grossly offensive, like sharing certain types of "pictures" of yourselves, etc, then I suppose that's fair enough, as long as it's kept between the two parties concerned.

One caveat: anyone who has access to the Futurama Madhouse MySQL database can actually read private messages of all members (this applies to all boards on the Net). That means webmasters of the site and anyone who hosts the database has access to all details hosted by the board. I, for one, don't read anyone's private messages, but you have to take my word on that... at least for me. The only time I did was to erase the spam porn PM mentioned above, but I only checked up on that PM and nothing else. If this revelation bothers you (I have mentioned this in the past), then it's best to be guarded about using the PM service on this board. ;)

I took Rush's question to mean submissions to the main site.  In that realm, I've had maybe one or two fan fics that I've rejected for content and I can think of another one or two that were on the hairy edge that we did publish.  More common is fan art - a few are obvious that we can't use them, and there have been some I wasn't sure on so I let Graham make the call (lucky him).

As far as the standards we employ those are fairly well spelled out in the rules.  It is of course something of a matter of judgment.

This is what happens when you mistake email for PM. :D Then again, I wasn't expecting such a question about the main site to be here. ;)

Yeah, we do receive some odd stuff now and then. I suppose there is a place for such stuff at another site, which fulfills a purpose. However, the main site has its own standards. Nothing right or wrong about that, it's just different horses for different courses, etc.

Another question you won't ban someone if someone sends you some futurama fan stuff which should be on the "The Turanga Pages" and gave you an email like this "fan fic (needs to be judged as fit for the board rules)" and this "fan art naked Leela (needs to be judged as fit for the board rules)" (?) Because I think lots of the submissions come from "The Turanga Pages" plus members too and I would know casue I go there, yep call me a pervert. Please don't judge me.

I'm not really getting what you're asking. Whatever is sent to the main site doesn't impact on what is done here (or vice versa). If it does or might, then that's another matter.

I don't care less if you go to the Turanga Pages or not. As I said, such a site serves a purpose that's not catered for on Futurama Madhouse, so it has its place. It's up to you what site you visit and I'm not going to determine for you what sites those should be. All we ask here is that you respect the board rules, nothing more, nothing less.

Rush, you know EXACTLY what happens when you send in something that is inappropriate for this site, so I'm not sure why you're even asking.

He's asking if the person who submits something like that will be banned, even if they put in the warning he said.

Ah, thank you for that clarification. It's still not clear if by "submission" one means actually posting it here on FMMB or sending it to a webmaster to be put on the main site, so let me address both.

Posting on FMMB:
  • If it did not violate the rules and were just bad and/or mildly offensive, I would not ban.  At most I might comment rather negatively (I hate to sound like I'm picking on Rush, but see his Santa Clause Sees All thread in Fan Stuff for an example).
  • If it did violate the rules (even with a warning) it would be on a case by case basis.  I might edit out the offensive bits or remove the post entirely.  If the person were new, I would send them a PM or e-mail explaining their transgression, what I'd done, and suggesting they read the rules.  If the person should have known better, my response would be stronger - again, depending on the circumstances.
  • If it were a gross violation of the rules, such as the one Graham cited earlier, then I wouldn't hesitate to invoke a permanent ban.

The main site:  You'll get an e-mail back from me telling you in no uncertain terms why I'm not going to run it, but I would not ban someone from FMMB for that.  Banning on FMMB is only for violations of the FMMB rules  (except for the one time I banned someone from FMMB for something that was done outside of FMMB but this was an extreme and unusual case).
