With The Old Breed by Eugene B. Sledge.  It is one of the very few accounts of the Second World War in the Pacific as seen through the eyes of a junior Marine.  It came to me highly recommended by someone here who was once in a similar position...

It's not a book but a web comic called Hotblood, where it tells the story of a gay centaur in the Wild West.

Futurama Conquers The Universe, along with a few other Futurama comics I picked up a couple of weekends ago.

Hell To Pay: Operation DOWNFALL and the Invasion of Japan, 1945-1947 by D.M. Giangreco.

The numbers alone are scary.

Broken Harts: The Life and Death of Owen Hart by Martha Hart with Eric Francis

A tragic story of the events leading up to the day Owen fell to his death. While I don't agree with how Martha has handled things, it's sad what happened to Owen.

Under The Banner of Heaven by Jon Krakauer.

Defeat Into Victory: Battling Japan in Burma and India, 1942-1945 by Field-Marshal Viscount William Slim.

Both are excellent books.

Soldiers First. Duty, Honor, Country and Football at West Point, by Joe Drape. This is part of some research I'm doing into sports at US Military Academies.

I'm reading Whistle Stop by Maritta Wolff.  This book was written in 1940 and, having picked it up from the estate of a railroad fan, I assumed it was railroad fiction, a genre that was popular in the first half of the twentieth century.  Well, not quite.  It's a rather boring story described as "A slice of sordid life in a small mid-Western town"  (that's probably where whistle Stop comes from, it's not important enough of a place that the trains actually stop there unless they have to) and so far the only railroad thing in it is when one of the characters gets in hot water and hobos his way out of town on a freight train.  Apparently where was a movie made of it in 1946.  Go figure.
